Moon Active

Moon Active is an Israeli mobile gaming company founded in 2011 by Samuel Albin, headquartered in Tel Aviv. The company is best known for developing Coin Master, a massively successful casual mobile game that combines slot machine mechanics with village-building and social raiding gameplay. Coin Master has become one of the highest-grossing mobile games globally.

Coin Master was released in January 2016 and quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, generating estimated gross revenue of $100 million in 2018, $550 million in 2019, and $1.25 billion in 2020. By August 2024, the game had surpassed $6 billion in lifetime revenue. The free-to-play game features in-app purchases and has been particularly successful in markets including North America, Europe, and India, attracting hundreds of millions of downloads.

Moon Active raised minimal external funding ($10 million total) despite achieving extraordinary profitability. In early 2020, Insight Partners purchased 10% of the company for $125 million, valuing Moon Active at $1.25 billion and establishing it as a unicorn. By November 2021, the company's valuation reached $5 billion during a $300 million secondary round. Moon Active employs approximately 1,300 people across its Tel Aviv headquarters and offices in London and a development center in Kyiv. The company acquired Melsoft Games (Family Island, My Cafe) in December 2020 for over $100 million.
